MLK, and the Bible’s Unique Contribution to Racial Reconciliation

With the state of race relations what it is today (Ferguson, Charlotte, etc…), I thought it may be pertinent to go back to the greatest Civil Rights leader in American history. His message, both spoken and lived, cast a vision for the future of our country which remains still beautiful. Behind Martin Luther King's vision was an idea deeply rooted in Jesus’ own life, the idea that “unearned suffering is redemptive.”

The Changing Labels of Christianity

What do the words “flirt,” “awful,” and “senile” have in common? They all used to mean something radically different than they do today. Senile conveyed that something was associated with maturity, a positive characteristic.

It is now in every neighborhood and family, even within individual homes and between friends.

The Bible Speaks - Legos or TV?

Why get out of bed? Most mornings, I think we’d all like to roll over and go back to sleep. If that’s just because we need some rest, great. But the Bible tells us of a character who wants nothing more than to sleep in, every day. A person who looks for any excuse to stay home. A person whose entire life is characterized by an unwillingness to produce. He is the sluggard.
